- 01Rosedale Readers supports children from 5 years old to adolescence who struggle with reading, writing, or spelling. Whether a child has a formal dyslexia diagnosis, suspected learning challenges, or they need to strengthen their literacy skills.
- 02The Barton System is an Orton-Gillingham research-based, structured literacy program that helps children learn reading, spelling, and writing through a step-by-step, multisensory approach. It’s especially effective for students with dyslexia or persistent literacy gaps.
- 03Children who struggle to sound out words, have slow or error-prone reading, avoid reading tasks, or have difficulty with spelling even after phonics practice, can benefit from structured literacy. These challenges are common signs that traditional classroom teaching may not be meeting their learning needs.
- 04Lessons are delivered through structured, one-on-one sessions, either in person at 822 Millwood Road, or virtually, depending on the student’s needs. Tutoring is offered between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, with most children attending sessions after school, evenings, or on weekends. Sessions are also available during school breaks, including summer, winter holidays, and March break. A consistent schedule is set during registration based on availability.
- 05No, a formal diagnosis isn’t required. Children who show signs of dyslexia or struggle with reading and writing can benefit from structured literacy instruction. That said, an official assessment can be helpful for school accommodations and understanding deeper learning needs.
- 06Yes. Support can include written progress updates, skill summaries, and recommendations that families may share with classroom teachers or school teams. This helps ensure consistency and alignment between tutoring and school expectations.
- 07Yes. Each level has a post-test that you can use as a pre-test (if necessary) to prove that a student could not do the activity before being taught the lesson, but the student can do those same tasks easily and with at least 95% accuracy (which is true mastery) after they have been taught the lessons in that level.
